Domestic Violence

The truth about domestic violence

Domestic violence and emotional abuse are behaviors used by one person in a relationship to control the other. Partners may be married or not, any sexual orientation, living together, separated or dating.

The violence takes many forms and can happen all the time or once in a while. Power and control can be exerted through physical, verbal, psychological, economic and sexual abuse. It may involve intimidating and/or frightening someone through threats or physical violence and may occur repeatedly, over a period of time, or just once.
